Primitive sculpture of painted wood with multiple deities around Shiva. depicts a wooden statue of Trivikrama, a form of Lord Vishnu.
This statue represents Vishnu in his incarnation as Vamana, the dwarf Brahmin, who later expands to cosmic proportions to reclaim the three worlds from the demon king Mahabali.
The statue shows Vishnu taking a giant stride, symbolizing his conquest of the three worlds.
The presence of a small figure of Bali at the base further emphasizes the narrative of the Vamana avatar. Such statues are often handcrafted from wood and hold significant spiritual and cultural importance in Hinduism.
This piece was purchased by owner on a trip to India late 2019, just prior to COVID. Shipping took some time due to the slow down during the pandemic, however, the Antiques dealer in Jodhpur made sure it arrived in America without damage.
