About the Item
A pair (they are different sizes) of finely painted 19th century Indo-Persian portrait miniatures in their original gold leaf frames which appear to never have been opened. The Portraits are of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (1592-1666) and the empress consort Mumtaz Mahal (1593-1631), the inspiration for the Taj Mahal. Each in a gold leaf rectangular frame with oval opening with a simple raised bezel, the leather covered easel backs with rings for hanging.

Emperor Shah Jahan 5.5" x 4.38" / sight 4" x 3"
Mumtaz Mahal 5" x 4" / sight 3.5" x 2.5"
The emperors frame has a crack from the bottom of the frame to the bottom of the oval opening,
