A large charming late 19th-century to early 20th-century, Chinese export reverse mirror painting, depicting a lady setting in her library. The painting comes with its original hardwood frame and the old pins in the back of the panel.
Reverse glass pictures became fashionable in the 18th century. Glass panels were sent from Europe to China by sea, where they were painted to order, framed, and then returned to the West for inclusion in Chinese-inspired interiors.
