Written in ink on a silver background, this calligraphy piece is attributed to Higuchi Kiku(樋口喜久).
While not a well-known artist, it has a certain elegance to it.
Higuchi Takayuki(樋口敬之), believed to be the parent, was adopted by the late Edo period calligrapher Higuchi Issai(樋口逸斎). He is said to have written "皇朝千文" (*Calligraphy examples and reading and writing textbooks) and worked for the Emperor.
It appears to be a Chinese poem beginning with "薫風~"
However, it appears to be an original poem by Higuchi, and the details are unknown.
The calligrapher's signature is at the end.
"蘭秀" (Ranshu) - Stamps read "樋口喜久" and "蘭秀"
Front is in relatively good condition; there are several repairs on the back.

Japanese Calligraphy Two-Panel Folding Shodō Screen with Gold Leaf Accents
Located in Yonkers, NY
A Japanese screen with hand-painted calligraphy with maker's red seal. This striking two-panel folding screen is a masterful representation of shodō, the Japanese art of calligraphy. Bold, flowing brushstrokes sweep across the panels, capturing the elegance and spontaneity intrinsic to this centuries-old tradition. Crafted with sumi ink on washi paper, the calligraphy radiates energy and refinement, framed by golden borders that lend a touch of luminosity to the piece. The screen's lightweight wooden frame, combined with its durable yet delicate paper panels, exemplifies the balance of strength and grace characteristic of Japanese design.
Whether used as a decorative accent or a room divider, this piece invites contemplation and artistry into any space. Its compact two-panel format makes it ideal for smaller interiors, serving as a focal point in a study, library, or entryway. Measuring at 53.5 inches in height, this screen is not tall enough to function as a traditional room partition but can still subtly define spaces in creative ways. It is perfect for accentuating specific areas of a room, such as a corner nook...
