About the Item

This is a charming 19th century Chinese carved and gilt wood 3 panel screen. The panels are carved in high relief with multiple figures and architectural elements. The panels are painted in a cinnabar red with the relief carving detailed in gold leaf. The screen has acquired a rich natural patina over its many years of use. In addition to traditional use, the screen would make an outstanding wall decoration, bringing in an haute boheme/boho chic sensibility.
