Stunning 20th century Chinese export lacquered six-panel coromandel screen depicting a lush courtyard over a dramatic gold leaf ground. The lacquered panels are incised and painted with natural colored pigments and gold leaf squares applied to the ground. The screen depicts women in robes engaged in leisurely activities with musical instruments and fans. The idyllic landscape is decorated with lush green foliage. The panels are supported by square legs ending with patinated brass wrapped feet. The screen has a desirable lightly aged patina to commensurate its age and use. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
