About the Item
Historically, folding screens (in Japanese 'byōbu', literally 'wind wall) were used to direct air circulation and create privacy in the flexible, open floor plan common in the traditional Japanese house. With its dynamic gold calligraphy this beautifully aged, 10 panel byōbu, fuses beauty with function, whether used as a 'wind wall', a room divider or a piece of art.
