About the Item
A gorgeous four-panel Showa Period Japanese Byobu folding screen featuring luminous cherry blossoms amongst the branches of a venerable pine tree. A very serene, tranquil, and peaceful image. The vibrant, rich colors (hand-painted on silk) and beautiful detail (of the pine needles and blooming flowers) really makes this quite an attractive work.
Original decorative period brass hardware adds another wonderful touch.
Signed (in black ink) and sealed (in red) by the artist.
Likely from the mid to later Showa period (1926-1989).
A beautiful, engaging work with a very minimalist (notice the use of negative space) Zen feel to it. Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art/screen collection or make for an eye catching stand alone accent artwork in almost any setting whether used as a room divider or hung on the wall as a work of art.
