About the Item
A gorgeous two-panel Japanese Byobu folding screen depicting a nature landscape scene with a two wild birds frolicking along a riverbank/lakeside among a patch of blossoming flowers. The composition, beautiful hand-painted detail and use of gold dust to accentuate the skyline above the distant slopping hillside really makes this quite an attractive work.
Original decorative period brass hardware adds another wonderful touch.
Likely from the early Meiji Period (1868-1912) but it is quite possible that it could have also been created in the latter part of the Edo Period (1603-1868)
A beautiful and engaging work. Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art/screen collection or make for an eye catching stand alone accent artwork in almost any setting whether used as a room divider or hung on the wall as a work of art.
