About the Item
A gorgeous, large two-panel antique Japanese Byobu folding screen depicting a nature landscape scene with a venerable cherry blossom tree and a running river with blooming flowers. It is quite a serene composition with beautiful hand-painted detail. The use of silver leaf and negative space by the artist really makes this quite an attractive work.
We are listing as from the early Meiji Period (1868-1912) but it is quite possible that it could have also been created in the latter part of the Edo Period (1603-1868)
A beautiful and engaging work. Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art/screen collection or make for an eye catching stand alone accent artwork in almost any setting whether used as a room divider or hung on the wall as a work of art.
