About the Item
Remarkable Japanese Showa period four-panel byobu screen depicting blossoming autumn flowers and grasses. The screen features a dramatic silver gilt square background that lends a dark moodiness to the painting. Crafted in the Nihonga school style with delicate brushstrokes and vibrant pink and white color pigments. Signed by artist Shoko with a seal on the left side. The painting is set in an ebonized black lacquer frame with a gold silk brocade border. Very good condition with strong joinery.
