About the Item

A handsome pair of fretted and carved wood Screen panels. Screens like these were often made as window decoration in Buddhist temples. They are traditionally handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and tenon structure. Panels like these are also made of cunninghamia wood, in the cypress family. 19th Century made in China. The central window opening is of a hexagonal honeycomb shape. The upper and lower screen is made up of triangular fret work. The lower end of the facade includes a rosette carving. Created circa 19th Century in China. No obvious markings on the pieces. In very good condition. Some gentle wear consistent with age and use. This pair would make a great accent in any home. Perfect for wall hanging, decorative ventilation between rooms. Measurements: Width: 13.25" / 33.655 cm Depth: 1.5" / 3.81 cm Height: 49" / 124.46 cm
