About the Item
Impressive pair of Japanese screens from the Taisho period meiji. Each six-panel screen depicts an image from the 24 paragons of filial piety Confucian stories written by Guo Jujing during the Yuan dynasty. Ink and natural color pigments on hand-crafted mulberry paper then mounted on gold leaf square background. Set in ebonized lacquer frames with silk brocade borders. Amazingly detailed and intricate with beautiful landscaped scenes having figures and one with a mythical white elephant beast. Each panel is signed with 3 seals bearing the names Toki and Rozan.
