About the Item
A wonderful image titled "Maruyama Park in Kyoto (Maruyama kôen)" by one of Japan's finest 20th century artist and one of, if not the greatest working artist in the Shin-Hanga movement. Yoshida was the first in a long lineage of renowned family artist. His works can be found in numerous prominent collections and museums worldwide. This work exhibits the coveted Jizuri Seal indicating that it was printed by Yoshida in his lifetime.
This work, featuring a lovely scene of people strolling over a bridged waterway in Maruyama Park in Kyoto, as children pause to peer into the the reflecting landscape on the water's shimmering surface below, was printed in 1933. It is as clean an impression and state as you will find and displays very deep, vibrant color. It is a relatively rare and hard to find image.
The woodblock print is pencil signed and titled by Yoshida and displays his brushed sumi ink "Yoshida" signature and is sealed with his red "Hiroshi" seal within the image. The Jizuri seal can be seen towards the top of the left margin.
Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art and print collection or an eye-catching stand-alone accent artwork in about any setting once framed.
