About the Item
A wonderful image titled "Sarusawa Pond (Sarusawa ike)" by one of Japan's finest 20th-century artists and one of, if not the greatest working artist in the Shin-Hanga movement. Yoshida was the first in a long lineage of renowned family artists. His works can be found in numerous prominent collections and museums worldwide.
The woodblock print, created in 1933, is signed in black and sealed in red within the lower corner of the image. As we acquired the work previously framed we can not see and read the margins to determine if this is a penciled signed lifetime edition or block signed posthumous edition so are assuming the latter. It may be a lifetime edition but we do not want to remove the print from the frame to keep it clean and safe.
This work can be found at the Art Institute of Chicago, The Minneapolis Institute of Art Collection, and The Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston.
Would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art and print collection or an eye-catching stand-alone accent artwork in about any setting.
The print is framed.
