About the Item
A wonderful, gorgeously composed and earth toned colored woodblock print by Japanese artist Ichiro Fukushima. This work features an exterior of a traditional Japanese temple or country house and surrounding garden and fauna.
The work is hand pencil signed, numbered (11/75) and titled (in Japanese) by the artist.
Ichiro Fukushima was very influenced by the post-war Japanese modern art movement and part of the 'sosaku hanga' movement which embraced the principle of the artist performing every step of the printmaking process: designing, carving, and printing.. He exhibited in Japan as early as the 1950s. His artistic career grew and lasted until the mid 1970s when he passed away at a relatively young age. Many of his works can be found in various collections and museums in Japan and abroad.
This piece would be a great addition to any Japanese or Asian art collection or make for an eye catching stand alone accent artwork in about any setting.

Located in Weesp, NL
Nishijima Katsuyuki (西島 勝之) is a contemporary Japanese artist known for his woodblock prints, which often depict traditional Japanese architecture and landscapes. Born in 1945 in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, Nishijima studied at the Kyoto Prefecture Art School and began his career as a painter before transitioning to woodblock printing. His works are celebrated for their detailed and vibrant representation of the Japanese countryside and urban scenes.

Each color in the print requires a separate block and precise alignment, or registration, to create the final image.
The print's title is "Bunraku" and is one of Nishijima's works that showcase traditional Japanese buildings and scenes. The print features a detailed depiction of a traditional Japanese storefront with a noren...
