Yoshitoshi Mori Signed Large Limited Edition Japanese Stencil Print, 1985
Located in Studio City, CA
A quite large and engaging fine print by famed Japanese printmaker Yoshitoshi Mori. The print portrays an ancient Samurai, one of Mori's favorite subjects, with an arrowhead in hand. It is stamped, signed, dated (1985) and numbered (12/50) by the artist. The original 1985 price of 300,000 yen can be seen written along the bottom edge of print. I have only seen this print offered once before making it relatively rare. A must have for collectors or admirers of Yoshitoshi Mori's work or lovers of Japanese prints in general. Would stand out in any setting and/or collection. The print has been professionally framed. Framed dimensions: 37" high, 45" wide and 1" deep Considered to be one of Japan's finest and most innovative 20th century print makers, Mori has exhibited throughout the world and his works can be found in permanent collections in such museums and galleries as: Art Gallery of Greater Victoria Art Institute of Chicago Baltimore Museum of Art Barcelona Art...

Vintage Chinese Deco White Horse Cigarette Advertisement Poster, 1936
Located in Chicago, IL
This calendar advertisement poster for White Horse cigarettes was produced by Hu Boxiang, a famous commercial advertising artist in Shanghai during the 1920s-1930s. Framed in a highly ornate floral border, a fashionable woman poses while gathering plum blossoms, emblems of winter and eternal beauty. Dressed in a traditional qipao but with Western hairstyle and accessories, the woman reflects the rising influence of Western advertising and the Art Deco movement during the economic boom of early 20th century Shanghai. Beneath this scene is a calendar for the year 1936, surrounded by packs of prominent cigarette brands...

Kaoru Kawano Signed Large Japanese Woodblock Print Dancing Geisha Figure Eshima
Located in Studio City, CA
A beautiful work by famed Japanese artist Kaoru Kawano who was known for his whimsical portrayals of women, children, and animals. Stylistically, he was one of the first Japanese artists to combine Western-style elements with the traditional methods of woodblock printmaking. This work is known as "Dancing Figure (Eshima)" The print is signed (in white ink within the image) and sealed (in red) by Kawano. This work is a quite rare self-printed lifetime double dai Oban large-size print. The quality and colors are striking. It is likely from a limited edition and perhaps numbered on the lower margin (we can not verify as it was previously framed but we are confident that this is the case). A very beautiful and rich image. Would make for a great addition to any Japanese art and print collection or Stand-out accent work in about any setting. Frame dimensions: 30.5" high, 20.5" wide, .5" deep Viewable art...
