Important Japanese complete antique signed and illustrated woodblock print hand book entitled: Chinese Acupuncture and Moxibustion- the art of Chinese acupuncture and heat therapy Title: Shinkan jushikeiraku hakki (jo, chu, ge in one volume) Period: Edo to Meiji period Rare early book complete. A thick book depicting fine original woodblock prints of illustrated acupuncture depictions. Woodblock prints are immediately frameable. One thread bound album containing Fine 6 inch x 4 inch wood block prints covering all manner of acupuncture with numerous detail illustrations. Complete with original signed album cover just the way we like to find them. You can literally marvel for hours enjoying thumbing through this rare album and 250 plus year old prints included. They are printed on washi paper and traditionally thread hand sewn. The connected accordion style pages are beautifully presented in an original handmade and hand bound album format. The prints are easily removable. Moxibustion is a form of heat therapy in which dried plant materials called "moxa" are burned on or very near the surface of the skin. The intention is to warm and invigorate the flow of Qi in the body and dispel certain pathogenic influences. Quality: All fine woodblock prints were printed from washi paper of that day and are in good condition with sharp impressions. Some prints have light foxing from great age. Age: All woodblock prints s date from 19th century or earlier. Dimensions: Woodblock prints: 4 inches high and 6.25 inches wide, very thick.
