China, A rare red overlay and snoflakes snuff bottle, 18th century.
A red overlay glass snuff bottle carved on a white bubbled snowflakes ground with pine, prunus and bamboo.
Together, a pine tree (Songshu), bamboo (Zhuzi ) and a plum blossoms (meihua) symbolize and wish longevity and endurance.
This iconic combination is called 'Three friends of the winter' (Suihansanyou ). It is a symbol of friendship and good luck.
