About the Item

These stone sculpture fragments can be dated between the 12th and 13th century. They were finely sculpted by the Khmer people. The Khmer culture flourished between the 8th and 15th century in South East Asia with Cambodia as its power centre and Ankor Wat as it most famous settlement. The Khmer culture had a unique take on Buddhist and Hindu traditions and these hands clearly demonstrate this. The elegant fingers are shown in a typical gesture which is known as Mudra. A Mudra would hold significant meaning and this one represents the Dharma Chakra or Wheel of law. The latter symbolizes the lifelong learning process of the spiritual enlightened. Dimensions are for the grey one 5.12 x 2.36 x 7.09 and the cream one 7.09 x 1.96 x 7.09. These are also sold separately for 800 euro.
