About the Item
Strongly carved early likely temple Buddha. A carved and gilt antique Southeast Asian Buddha figure wearing a tall pointed headdress and seated with one hand pointing down to the earth and the other hand held open for a now missing object. The head and hands are made separately. He is seated on what is the lid for a demilune shallow box. The red painted box with gilt stenciled decoration of a basket with a lotus flower and floral vines on the front.
Dimensions; 17 1/2" H, 8" W x 4 1/2" D
Condition: Please review the detail photos. The ears are missing as well as the object that he originally held. Three are small stable age cracks tom the base of the Buddha, and wear to the gilt but retaining a fine age patina. There is a chip on the box top edge and overall surface wear with stains on the box painted decoration all mentioned for accuracy as the Buddha retains an authentic and serene presentation.
