Daruma, a Japanese Zen God who lost the use of his legs from sitting and meditating on top of the mountain for eternity. It has become a legend in Japanese folklore and in modern times have been regarded as a symbol of good luck.
This particular Daruma image is carved from one piece of wood with his head beautifully polished to emphasize his brooding image.
