Early Japanese Hinoki wood sculpture of Bishamon. Kamakura period (1185 - 1333) sculpture made from hinoki wood. Bishamon is also known as Tamonten, meaning "listening to many teachings." In Japanese folklore, he is one of the Seven Gods of Fortune. 24 inches to top of spear, 20 1/2" to top of head.
