This seated stone statue of Jizo Bodhisattva, unique to Sado Island (Niigata Prefecture), is believed to have been created during the Edo period. Sado Island is home to a small Jizo hall known as "Nashi-no-ki Jizo," where numerous stone Buddha statues, dedicated by people since the Edo period, have been enshrined.
