ABOUT
Extremely rare, unusual large size karakuri gosho-ningyo is all-wood, covered in a fine white gofun, with inset glass eyes, Depicted seated with legs thrust forward, he is wearing a sleeveless sumptuous silk and gold vest, with black silk collar, embroidery over a silk brocade haragake bib with bold dragon and cloud motif. The gosho is holding a dramatic and well-carved mask of a fox, open mouth and gold eyes. Presented on a shibori pillow. An entertaining presentation gift for the Imperial family. The majority Karakul are made very much smaller and made of paper mâché.
