Antique Japanese natural Momo Red Coral Graduated Bead Necklace - Gilt fish hook Clasp.
A fine 19th C coral necklace.
The red coral round beads have a nice cut, color, shape and luster.
This coral necklace is all natural and hasn't been treated or dyed in any way, beads are AA quality.
A beautiful example of these early red salmon corals that is hand-knotted between each coral bead.
The silk separator serves to stop beads rubbing, gives better hang and flow, and most importantly, stops you from losing your precious coral in the event of breakage.
The Chinese believed coral had protective values, so it was very popular jewelry in 18th and 19th C.
Please note that this is not cheap dyed bamboo coral but authentic genuine Red Corals.
