About the Item

This is a wooden Buddha statue made around the Edo period in Japan. Although it is a small Buddha statue, it has a strong presence and is beautiful. Originally, there was a wooden pedestal, but these have been lost and only the main body of the Buddha statue remains today. Also, part of his left wrist is missing. Then, I combined the base of an old semicircular lotus pattern sculpture. Now you can display it on the wall, or since it can stand on its own, you can also display it on a shelf or table. This base is also from the Edo period. It's cool. Also, the deity of this Buddha statue is Tathagata. It is the highest Buddhist statue in Buddhism. It is a very precious existence that saves the lives of many people. A wooden storage box is also included. Why not try decorating it? Buddha statue body size w5.3cm h9.5cm Overall weight: 206g

A carved wood buddha with lacquered surface in the style of Erku (1632–1695), a monk from Edo period who was famous for hand-carving Buddha statues in a primitive style. From a single wood block of what appears to be cedar, the standing buddha was carved in an unpolished manner with exposed knife strokes that effectively depicted a subtly smiling face and the folding of the cascading robes. The rustic style is full of Mingei charm being a great example of Japanese Buddhism...
