An early and hard to find Japanese larger scale hand carved stone Kanon in a mudra of contemplation. Nyoirin Kannon Bosatsu is beautifully depicted in characteristic seated pose of royal ease.
She has been beautifully hand-sculpted from a grey brown hued hard stone replete with visible patron signatures to the left and right of the kanon.
Age: Edo period, 19th century
Condition: handsome old patina with areas of original garden lichen. Good condition for its great age.
An excellent garden or indoor sculptural choice with a genuine spiritual presence.
Handmade and hand carved with a subtle and attractive patina appropriate for its age.
Dimensions: 25 inches tall and 12 inches wide
