Here's an extraordinary opportunity to collect and acquire a Japanese authentic hand cast copper Shinto Suzu bell complete with its original thick pull rope and massive wooden handle. The bell is signed by its multiple original donors from the Shinto Buddhist Community where it was authentically rung at some time in the distant past. This is a superb old copper signed casting of a wonderful temple bell and comes complete with it's elusive original pull rope. Authentically used, this Suzu bell was sourced from an old Southern Japan collection. It was one of a small group of rare bells de-accessioned by a Southern Japanese temple Community. It dates to the early Showa period and displays an impressive Fine old patina. These bells were often commissioned by wealthy families and donated as sacred gifts to Shinto shrines on behalf of their family or in honour of a special family member. Suzu hang under the eaves of a Shinto shrine. The Suzu Shinto bell contains pellets that sound when agitated. At Shinto shrines, large Suzu drape over entrances, as it is said that ringing them calls kami, allowing one to acquire positive power and authority, while repelling evil.
