A delightful, whimsical and rare cast iron Japanese garden lantern in the shape of an owl, made in Japan c. 1950. With pointed ears, a charming face and a fantastic aged surface, it is the perfect addition to any garden, although it could equally be used indoors. The beautiful red patina gives a dramatic russet glow to the candlelight within, which then shines through the perforated form of the owl to very atmospheric effect.
