About the Item

A refined cast-bronze sculpture titled “Quiet Horse”, created by the distinguished Nitten artist Yoshida Eiji. The work captures the serene, composed posture of a horse with elegant contours and subtle surface modeling that reflect Yoshida’s mastery of bronze casting. The piece has a dignified presence, making it ideal for display in a tokonoma alcove, on a low stand, or as a focal point in an interior. About the Artist — Yoshida Eiji (1911–20th Century) Born in Osaka in 1911 (Meiji 44), Yoshida Eiji was a prominent Japanese sculptor who studied under the celebrated master Seibo Kitamura, known for the Peace Statue in Nagasaki. After graduating from the Tokyo Fine Arts School, Yoshida was selected for major national exhibitions, including the Teiten and Bunten. Later he became a member of Nitten, Japan’s most prestigious art association, and served as president of the Seidokai. His works are admired for their balance, quiet strength, and refined metalworking technique. This bronze horse is an excellent example of his work from the mid-20th century—an artwork that combines sculptural grace with traditional Japanese metal artistry.
