About the Item
In this listing you will find a set of 4, or better say, two pairs of antique, hand carved Foo Dogs. This small figurines are made in soapstone. These mythical lion-like creatures are a traditional Chinese architectural ornament, used to protect a building from negative spiritual influences. They are not actually dogs, but the name came into use in the West because of their resemblance to dog breeds like the Chow Chow and Shih Tzu. Made in China in the 19th Century.
All 4 foo dogs are in good antique condition with some traces of time.
