Tibetan Bronze Depicting Damcan on Lion, 19th Century Gilt bronze and pigment The Tibetan wrathful deity, also known as Damcan or Damchen (which is a generic term), possibly Dorje Shugden or Dorje Legpa, is a protector, guardian of sacred texts and is often depicted riding a lion or a goat. He has a face with three eyes, his right hand in Mudra gesture; the lion is richly harnessed, his head turned left and upwards.
