About the Item

This elegant woman’s robe is crafted from mid-19th-century Bukhara silk brocade, originally woven for the refined textile traditions of Central Asia. The outer layer features a luminous fuchsia-purple ground adorned with a complex floral and boteh (paisley) motif rendered in gold metallic thread, accented with vivid touches of indigo blue. The shimmering palette and detailed brocade highlight the exceptional artistry characteristic of Bukhara’s silk weaving centers during the 19th century. The interior lining is composed of pieced antique green-striped silk ikat and cotton floral print fabrics. Dimensions: Length (Neck to Hem): 132 cm (55.5 in) Width (Sleeve to Sleeve): 157 cm (61.8 in) The mounting service — which involves hand-stitching the robe onto a linen support for preservation — will be provided at no additional cost. Final framing can be arranged by the buyer with a local framer according to their preferred style and materials. This option is recommended for long-term preservation and display, though the robe remains fully wearable if preferred.
