About the Item

This is a very fine 19th century Silk ' Chapan' from the Central Asian Country of Uzbekistan. The piece is finely woven in Silk with a handspun cotton lining probably Manchester roller printed cotton. All hand stitched with beautifully completed local repairs adding to the aesthetics of the piece . Historically the Chapan was worn as an item of status and the higher status pieces woven from silk. A very fine piece as a very comfortable coat or as an intriguing statement piece hanging in your dinning room.
