About the Item

An exceptionally large exceedingly fine hand embroidered Chinese matrimonial 'Double Happiness' silk panel. The navy blue silk field richly decorated with hand-stitched gold, silver coloured silk threads illustrating auspicious images of phoenix, bats, clouds, peonies, pairs of lovebirds, etc., denoting blessings of longevity, prosperity, blissfulness, romance, etc., all set against a background of flowering vines. Set within a carved hardwood frame and fronted by a glazed panel. Sight Dimensions, 79" wide x 18.5" high. Framed Dimensions, 82" wide x 21.75" high x 1.5" deep. (Mounting hardware included). The panel appears to be folded which suggests that it is likely larger than the stated sight dimensions. This exceptionally large fine example remains in extremely good overall condition, and is priced competitively in comparison to similar examples in the marketplace, which are very few, if any.
