About the Item

A striking mid-19th-century Uzbek ceremonial robe woven in a vibrant lavender-and-gold silk brocade. The textile displays an elaborate floral pattern rendered in metallic-toned silk, a hallmark of the luxurious garments produced for Central Asian nobility during this period. The robe retains its original handwoven cotton band at the neckline and shoulders, as well as black cotton trim along the cuffs and outer edges. The interior features a combination of traditional textiles, including a green-and-white striped silk panel and a red cotton panel with small white floral motifs. A restoration on the lower backside has been carried out using hand-dyed silk velvet, added by us to reinforce an area that had weakened over time while respecting the integrity of the original garment. Dimensions: Length (Neck to Hem): 124 cm (53.5 in) Width (Sleeve to Sleeve): 170 cm (66.9 in) The mounting service — which involves hand-stitching the robe onto a linen support for preservation — will be provided at no additional cost. Final framing can be arranged by the buyer with a local framer according to their preferred style and materials. This option is recommended for long-term preservation and display, though the robe remains fully wearable if preferred.
