Mid Century Embroidered Animal and Bird Textile Wall Hanging Central Asia C.1940
A richly embroidered textile panel depicting a lively menagerie of animals and birds arranged within a stylised landscape of flowering plants and foliage. The composition features lions, leopards, deer, elephants, camels, birds, and other creatures rendered in a highly decorative, almost narrative manner, characteristic of Central Asian folk embroidery traditions.
The embroidery is worked in polychrome wool threads on a plain-woven cotton ground. The palette of soft earth tones combined with blues, greens, ochres, and red has mellowed attractively with age.
The overall condition is very good commensurate with age.
