About the Item

This amazing and rare Qing Dynasty silk tapestry is one of two available. it is exceptional in its antique handwoven embroidery work and depicts a stunning set of two roosters surrounded by a field of flowers and leaves. the embroidery is in some places about 3/8" off of the silk background as if creating texture and levels to the tapestry. The piece is in its original framing from at least mid century and has been placed in a new massive lucite box to create a modern look and also protect the fabric from oxidation. The lucite is 1/4" thick and 5 sided. measuring 47.5W x 80H x 1.75" D The silk is worn and weathered in some places, giving it even more of an organic and collected beauty. if this tapestry could talk would tell a great story of its travels.
