An exceptionally old and fine example of a west timor ikat textile. This particular textile is incredibly old, easily over a century old with a wonderful fading of color and aging that all add to its charm. A museum quality piece kept in immaculate condition over the many decades. It is hand-woven using naturally dyed yarns via a method passed on through generations. It features a stunning array of distinct tribal patterns and bright colours. Timorese ikats such as this one are prized for their immaculate tribal patterns that are intricately and delicately crafted to perfection. It takes many months to complete a single textile such as this one, with painstaking attention to detail
patience. It is the women of Timor who are gifted with the skill required to compete such a fine work. A prized piece that has been kept in private collection for over 40 years.
