About the Item

A TANGKA PAINTING OF MANIFESTATIONS OF PADMASAMBHAVA TIBET, 20TH CENTURY He appears as the Dorje Drolo. He rides a fierce tigress, and brandishes a vajra in his right hand and a ritual dagger (phurba) in his left. Padmasambhava adapted this terrifying emanation when he taught the Dakinis in a charnel field in Khotan. He specialized in subduing demons and negative forces. And he is regarded as the Precious Guru's manifestation of Vajrakila, the Deity Phurpa. Unmounted. 23 3⁄8" x 15 3⁄4" in. (59.4 x 40 cm.)
