Vintage Sumba Slendang Shoulder Cloth/Scarf with Animal Design. Indigo and morinda root dyed cotton warp handwoven in a mirror image design depicting an ark of animal pairs including monkeys, deer, snakes, birds shrimp and fish aligned vertically. Ikat textiles such as this one are made with backstrap looms in Sumba, Indonesia.Sets of the cotton warp threads are dyed prior to weaving, thus creating mirror imagery when woven.
Minor fading otherwise fine condition.
