About the Item

A handsome and most impressive French 19th century Empire st. ormolu and iron andiron. The andiron is raised by a straight base with a fine mottled design. Each of the two supports display striking paw feet below large richly chased acanthus leaves. At the center is an iron bar attached at the supports by elegant rosettes and displays fine foliate side ormolu finials.
