About the Item

A charming pair of French hand-forged, wrought iron fireplace andirons–or chenets–made in the 19th century. Somewhat Gothic in style, they have a reddish brown patina from oxidation of the iron and exposure to high heat. The hefty andirons have straight legs protruding from the back and a vertical post at the front rising on scrolled feet. Please view the detailed images to see more. Sold as a pair.
