About the Item

Bring refined neoclassical charm to a hearth with this antique pair of French Louis XVI–style chenets, crafted in France circa 1880 and finished in warm bronze doré. Each gilt andiron is topped with a finely modeled seated putto, rendered with soft features and graceful posture, giving the pair a playful yet elegant presence. The fronts are designed as draped swags tied with a central tassel, flanked by acorn finials and supported on fluted tapered legs, classic Louis XVI motifs that speak to the quality of late-19th-century French metalwork. The original iron billets remain attached at the back, allowing the pair to function traditionally or serve as decorative fireplace accents.
