A very massive, heavy and strong, Modernist, Neoclassical, Brutalist, pair of andirons, to be attributed. Massive geometric wrought iron structures holding thick iron spheres on their top, decorated by "Fleur de Lys" on their bodies, by yet anonymous craftsman, to be attributed, France 1970.
These very heavy pieces have an impressive presence. Their strong, rough and thick modernist structures are counterbalanced by thin details and sharp lines, and the "Fleur de Lys" remembering the (french) royal nobility. This paradoxal esthetic is enriching the brutalist power by just a few sophisticated details, combining references to the past and the present, giving these pieces something unique.
