About the Item
A refined pair of French brass andirons dating to the early 20th century, sourced in southwest France. Each andiron features a classically detailed brass façade with a substantial cast-iron rear support, demonstrating traditional French hearth craftsmanship.
Originally designed to support logs and improve airflow within an open fireplace, these andirons offer both functional integrity and decorative presence. Their sculptural form and warm patina make them suitable for use or display in sophisticated interiors.
Each piece features elaborately cast brass columns with acanthus leaf motifs, geometric ornamentation and classic scrollwork, displaying early 20th-century French decorative taste. Behind each brass front sits a sturdy cast-iron rear support bar, reflecting traditional construction and ensuring practical utility.
The pair has been professionally cleaned and carefully polished, preserving original character and enhancing surface quality. Both remain in excellent condition for their age.
