About the Item

A large-sized French relief-carved and painted decorative wall panel from the 19th century. This antique plaque from France is rectangular-shaped with beautiful relief carvings depicting various putti at play alongside a monkey with tambourine and feline like creature, within an inner surround with cartouche-carved crest, and scrolling acanthus leaves that give it a feeling of movement and fluidity. A carved shell nicely anchors the impression at center bottom. This 19th century French ornately-carved wall plaque would be a perfect focal point in a dining room or hanging over a living room fireplace mantel. It is a large-sized plaque, at just over 6 feet in width and approximately 3.5 feet in height, which could work as an opulent headboard option crowning over a queen or king-sized bed.
