About the Item
Nineteenth Century solid limestone lithographers stone. Two smooth printing surfaces with a rough exterior. Stenciled graphics on the edge, H 3 0. Limestone was used more commonly than glass, granite or marble because it was less likely to dull a blade. Limestone is a fine grained stone and defect free for use in the lithography discipline. Definitely a conversation piece or a wonderful plinth or base.
Good overall condition with cosmetic wear due to age and use. Scuffs, scratches, minor chips, circular marks and a minor pressure crack or cut that is just on the exterior and does not affect its structure or stability (see photos).
