About the Item

Beautiful pair of hand-forged steel and brass grates, a rare architectural find, believed to date back to the Art Deco period. Characteristic of that era, the geometric scallop pattern remains a timeless classic. Delicate brass accents are interspersed throughout the steel pattern, offering just the right amount of shine and contrast to enhance the overall aesthetic. These grates are versatile, perfect for layering different period pieces, suitable for interior and exterior installations. One grate is missing a (single) brass ornament, but it remains discreet and does not detract from the overall appearance or integrity of the grate. Most likely made in Italy or France, they possess European charm and French Art Deco panache! Original, authentic pieces like this are getting harder and harder to find! As a Curator and Interior Designer, these are the timeless qualities I seek – knowing it will transcend time, always in style, never trendy. A treasured find for collectors and enthusiasts of unique and one-of-a-kind pieces. We know, it’s hard to find, one-of-a-kind pieces! Shop our listings for new inventory, curated from an Interior Architect and Designer’s POV. THE TASTEMAKER SHOPPE offers an exclusive mix of furnishings, founded solely on good taste, not limited by any style or era.
